Red Hammer/ Berlin Anvil
is a unit level strategic/tactical level game simulation of World War II events.
The map represents an aerial view approximately 3X3 ½ miles of central Berlin. The game effects are taken
from historical accounts. The game starts on April 24. The Germans have no extensive defense preparations or
units for the forth coming battle. In the historical events, all available units were sent approximately 50 miles east to
the Oder River and Seelow Heights. This is where the Russians would be stopped according to the orders from the Fuehrer's
bunker. Accordingly, Berlin was prepared for defense, lightly as any other course would be contrary to the Fuehrer's orders.
The game starts with minimal Volksturm and Hitler Youth units to oppose the lead Russian combat units. The Adhoc German
units must use defensive tactics to stall the Russian advance just as they did in the actual battle while German veteran and
armor units move into position as the game progresses and veteran units become available on the historical timeline.
